Well, here we are at the very humble beginning of Eve's Handbasket. My intention here is not quite clear, but I will begin with a broad and beautifully vague goal of "stimulating some sort of thought in any sort of way about any sort of thing."
With the exponential acceleration in the pace of our general lives it seems that time and energy for thought or just reflection is increasingly lacking. Judging by the state of human affairs, this is a trend with distressing results. Maintaining a balanced perspective with at least a minimal comprehension of what is or is not really important to you is the key to personal well-being. That sounds like a lot of new-age bullocks. Just try this simple mindplay to understand what I mean. Imagine yourself on your deathbed right this moment, your mortality no longer a distant illusory threat, but a reality here and now. Really try to wrap your head around that. Now recall your personal problems of past and present. How important do they seem? How many regrets do you have, and how simple does it now seem to have avoided many of them. You get the idea.
Now, that whole thing is about perspective, the realization of your mortality and being forced to confront it also forces you to refocus your real priorities in the grand scheme of things. The problem of course with having this revelation on your deathbed is that it is much too late to correct yourself, and you have precious little time to re-orient yourself with your new found perspective and reach acceptance.
